A Successful PR Stunt

One of my customers is Modern PurAir, an air duct cleaning franchisor in Kelowna.   Lane, the owner, isn’t your typical duct cleaner, and he wanted to make his company stick out – big time.

He’s selling 3 old industrial HVAC trucks.   So I thought it would be cool to invite the tagger/artist community to come paint these trucks, with a $300 prize to the top artist on each truck.

It happened downtown Kelowna near the end of August, and hundreds of people came to watch the artists do their thing.  The crowd on-hand at the end of the day voted for the top 3 winners.

We landed EIGHT media hits for this event – radio, TV, both papers, and the main Okanagan web portal.

It had nothing to do with air duct cleaning, but Lane’s company is now seen in a different light, and he’s already booked jobs from the exposure surrounding the event.
