Time for a pre-launch rename?

There are two big budget movies coming out this fall.  One is called ‘9‘, the other  ‘NINE‘.  They’re not affiliated.  And when you Google ‘9’, ‘Nine’ comes up first.
If I was on either marketing team, I would fight hard for a rename and even a new launch date, which would be easy.  What a dumb mistake that will only cause confusion – especially with such close release dates.

In similar bound to be confusing news, Radio Shack has gone and renamed itself ‘The Shack’, which has no affiliation with the hot selling book (which will continue to come up first in Google), or Pizza Hut’s weak attempt at rebranding with ‘The Hut‘.  Good names are easy to come up with.  Radio Shack is taking the easy road and it will hurt them.
